Guided tours in Parma

Parma with its monuments, its artists, and its DOP food products

Visitare Parma città

Parma is a city to walk, to eat, to smell, to listen to. It's my city! Its historic center is compact, seemingly divided by a stream named after it, Parma. It absorbs the crisp air of the Apennines and welcomes the humid fog of the Po River.

The Romans founded it, the Bishops and Counts of the Middle Ages left it an extraordinary Cathedral Square, and dukes and duchesses enriched it with works of art, churches and palaces, villas, gardens, and theaters. During the Second World War, it suffered under bombing, and reconstruction gave it modern architecture. It is famous for its food, its music, Correggio's domes, its aromas, and the castles on the hills and plains that surround it. It is small like its province but surprising, even for me, a native of Parma. Together, we will see its most beautiful and least-known places, and we will discuss its history, but also the many stories that have passed through it, step by step.

LOOK UP LOOK DOWN

For families and curious tourists - DURATION: 2 hours and 30 minutes

Strolling the streets of an unfamiliar city always holds surprises.
Monumental courtyards hidden away, frescoed ceilings seen from open windows, churches with strange decorations, trapdoors and hidden excavations, and raised niches.
Walking through unfamiliar streets with a local guide allows you to understand these signs, which become the inspiration for a narrative tour.
Our tour, while touching on Parma's most famous sites, will begin with some details and peculiarities we encounter along the way. We will discuss them together, and they will reveal Parma's history and beauty.

THE 7 NOTES OF PARMA

For those who want to discover the melodic soul of the city - DURATION: Half day or full day
  • Casa Toscanini: where the legendary and rebellious conductor was born. A small museum for a great story;
  • Teatro Farnese: a masterpiece of spruce wood, built in 1618 from a "crazy" architectural challenge;
  • Monument to Verdi: a sculpted tribute to the Maestro, a symbol of music and patriotism;
  • Glauco Lombardi Museum: the secrets of Duchess Maria Luigia, among jewels and her beloved fortepiano;
  • Opera Museum: the city's musical memory, from set designs to the lives of the great artists who made Parma's theaters great;
  • Boito Conservatory: a secret cloister where the scent of wisteria blends with the music of students from around the world;
  • Teatro Regio: the temple of Opera. It's not just velvet and crystal, it's the very essence of Parma.
